About the event
Coming up this summer on June 22, 2024, Gordon Livestock Market is thrilled to host a Nebraska Women in Ag Event! This program is in partnership with Nebraska Women in Agriculture and will be held at Gordon Livestock Market in Gordon, NE. The women at GLM felt a need to bring an event like this to the area as there are not many events that are directed to the amazing hard-working women in Western Nebraska.
The event will start at 8 AM MT with check-in and breakfast will be served 9 - 10 AM. Our first speaker of the day will be Kurt Sexton with Farm Credit Services. Kurt Sexton has been with Farm Credit Services of America for two years now as a Financial officer and serves the panhandle of Nebraska from Alliance to Gordon with a singular focus on agriculture, supporting rural communities, and helping producers succeed. Kurt will speak on correct record-keeping, loan preparation, and how to create a professional balance sheet. This presentation will be so helpful to all women who manage their operations finances and will help them learn what records they need to keep for years to come. After that, we will have Vendor Shopping available from 11 - 12 PM and then lunch will be served!
Our second speaker of the day, Jay & Jenn Stomprud of Stomprud Ranch, will start at 1 PM. Jenn Stomprud grew up on the beaches of Hawaii, spent time surrounded by the mountains in Montana, and made her way to the prairie of western South Dakota. Since moving to the family ranch, near Mud Butte, SD, in 2007, Jenn, her husband, and three children have had a steep learning curve! With no agricultural background upon arrival but a degree in education, Jenn knows the importance of continued learning. She loves to share the knowledge she has gained over the years and encourage others. Jenn will speak about her experiences being a ranch wife and all the transitions life has thrown her way!
After Jenn is finished speaking we will have Vendor Shopping from 3 - 5 PM and will be open to the public. Supper at 5 PM. Following supper we will have a Floral Arrangement Class and enjoy cocktails & each other's company!
We are looking forward to holding this event with Nebraska Women in Agriculture and hope that many women will be able to join us!
